Dr. Rakesh K Srivastava (Ph.D., MBA, FRSM, FRSPH) is a name to reckon with when it comes to academics, research, and medicine. He has been serving the field of sciences and has instilled several cornerstones in his decorated career of over 30 years. He is a true prodigy and has contributed immensely and meaningfully through his years of practice and teachings in the field of academics and sciences. Dr. Srivastava shoulders towering intellectual ability and has been instrumental in giving effect to some trailblazing research work in various fields. Dr. Srivastava has obtained his post-graduation M.Sc. from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s, Newfoundland, and his Ph.D. from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He has obtained his MBA from Tulane University
After completing his education, he successfully completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Rakesh Srivastava was a fellow of the National Academy of Science, and Head of Cancer Therapeutics, at the National Institute on Aging, NIH. His qualifications and prowess find a lot of veneration amongst his contemporaries and he is a tall figure in his sphere of work and operations. His talent finds translation in all the esteemed positions he has held and continues to hold till now and in all the numerous books that he has edited to date.
Dr. Srivastava has served as a professor and eminent scientist in major US Universities. He has been proclaimed as an eminent scholar by the Kansas Bioscience Authority, and endowed professor at KUMED. The list of accolades and awards conferred on him is huge and rightly deserved too as he has been a pioneer in some trailblazing subjects when it comes to research. He has received national merit awards and scholarships during his graduate and postgraduate studies. He was awarded fellowships at the National Institutes of Health, and the National Academy of Sciences, USA, and a Career Development Award from the US Army. He has been rightly touted as a Scholar by Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium.
The scope of his work is so immense and bright as he has actively taught numerous courses at various high-profile institutions and has served on various National and International committees as well. Dr. Srivastava Rakesh has also been an advisor to several government agencies, industries, and foundations. He has rigorously conducted research in the areas of drug discovery and development, cancer therapy and prevention, diabetes, nutrition, regenerative medicine, autophagy, and nanotechnology. Owing to his glorious contribution to the field, Dr. Srivastava currently holds esteemed memberships of the American Association for Cancer Research, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Association for Cell Biology, Society for Basic Urological Research, Royal Society of Medicine, and Royal Society for Public Health. He has been invited to over 200 conference presentations and seminars. What adds more feathers to his hat is the fact that he has 13 patents to his name and has edited 5 books. He has written 15 book chapters and has also published a total of 150 papers. Some of the books edited by him are “Apoptosis, Cell Signaling, and Human Diseases” volume 1 and 2, “Stem Cells and Human Diseases”, “Nutrition, Diet and Cancer”, and “Lost in Translation”. His edited books are available on all leading online portals and the books are up for grabs on all these websites. He has chaired meetings and delivered keynote lectures and presentations at many national and international conferences.
What needs a standalone mention is that all the spheres in which Dr. Srivastava has done research are very cardinal and imperative to the wellbeing of the human race as a collective and his work transcends the boundaries of being merely medical in its approach and has a very strong social fiber attributed to it as well. There are only a handful of people in this world who are working and have dedicated their life to all these above-mentioned subjects as it takes a lot of dedication and strong intent to pursue these. His work is so consequential, and his caliber is totally unprecedented. Stem cell, cancer, diabetes, and all those broad topics are the crux of so many problems currently faced by our society. His research is trailblazing, revolutionary, and lifesaving.
But it is not just about work and research but the multi-faceted aspect of Dr. Srivastava’s personality that makes him an even bigger inspiration. The spectrum of his hobbies is also very wide and vibrant. He is an ardent reader, an impassioned traveler, a keen traveler, and is also fond of fishing. This beautiful gamut of hobbies adds that zest of adventure to Dr. Srivastava’s personality which makes him a cut above the rest and a true-blue inspiration in all respects.
What should be noted is that such intricate and detailed research and practices cannot be carried out with just acquired and cultivated skills. It takes more than just knowledge for someone to tread on such demanding and daunting grounds. The will needs to be very strong; discipline needs to be very strict, hard work needs to be very steady and there must be a strong desire to make a difference all these virtues when collectively come into play, manifest themselves in the form of such prodigious talent which is highly respected worthy.
